Naked Lush Argan Facial Oil – Product Review

About Lush

In case you aren’t aware about Lush, I thought I would just let you know a bit of the history around the brand as they are quite impressive.

Ethics

Lush was founded in 1995 by Mark Constantine and Liz Jenson. The first ever Lush shop was in Poole, Dorset UK where these days the headquarters is. The first shop was making cosmetics from locally sourced fruit and vegetables.

Lush has been committed to being cruelty free ever since they opened and they only buy raw materials from companies that are not involved in animal testing at all.

Environmentally

As a company Lush is really leading the way environmentally. They have operated the return 5 empty pots for a free face mask incentive, ever since I’ve known about them. In 2021 they refreshed their scheme in the UK called ‘Bring It Back’ to include the option of returning their pots for a 50p discount (per pot) which can be taken from your order at the till. Sample pots can also be returned for a 5p discount against your order.

They’ve always tried to avoid packaging a lot as well and in recent years produced the ‘Naked’ packaging free range of shower gels, shampoo bars and skincare. When they have used packaging they use black pots which are made from 90% recycled materials.

Lush UK for the last 4 years has operated an air travel and carbon tax policy. This means for all the carbon that they produce they tax themselves per metric tonne and they pay this amount directly to fund climate change organisations and transport campaign groups.

They’ve replaced the palm oil that they were using as a soap base with eco friendly alternatives and they are constantly working on removing palm oil from the rest of their products, as well as encouraging other companies to do the same.

They also use paper bags in store and if you place an order for delivery the packing they use in the cardboard box to protect their products is made from corn starch so can be composted at home.

They are completely transparent about everything they do and all this information can be found on their website.

Naked Lush Argan Facial Oil

This Facial Oil is made mostly from cocoa butter, shea butter and argan oil. It has a really lovely scent, I would have described it as the classic Lush scent but that’s obviously not really helpful for you!

To be more specific the scent is very sweet, like vanilla and rose. There are certain essential oils that I find overpowering but I don’t feel like this product contains any of those.

If you’re particularly sensitive to fragrance you might find this one quite strong though so bear that in mind. As I’ve tried quite a few Lush products at this point, I know what I’m getting from Lush and I love their whole ethos so it’s not a deal breaker for me.

Lush have two Facial Oils in their range, the other Facial Oil is called Full Of Grace and this seems like it would be more suitable for combination skin. It has ingredients that seem more calming like calamine powder and chamomile so thought I’d mention that too.

How To Use Lush Argan Facial Oil

If you’re not used to solid facial products you might be wondering how to use Lush Argan Facial Oil?

Normally with a lotion bar or similar you need to warm the bar up a little in your hands before using it. This bar has a slightly different texture and melts quite easily on your fingers, like the massage bars that Lush sell in their range.

To use the Lush Argan Facial Oil bar you can rub it on your hand slightly and then gently rub it directly on your face. Or you can use your fingers to melt a bit of the oil onto them and then massage it into your skin.

What I do is I glide the bar over the top of my hands first, then I find that when I use the bar directly on my cheeks after, it doesn’t tug at my skin.

Pros And Cons

I think it’s worth mentioning the pros and the cons for this Lush Argan Facial Oil so you can decide if you want to give it a try yourself.

Pros

• It’s a solid bar so it’ll last ages
• Lush are a cruelty free brand
• It has Argan oil in it which can be beneficial for your skin
• It’s a vegan product
• It’s quite an affordable price at £10.00
• It smells lovely like vanilla and rose

Cons

• It would need to be stored in the fridge in warmer weather
• I don’t think it would be suitable for some combination skin types
• It’s fragranced so not great for really sensitive skin

What I Like About It

• Plastic free packaging
• Really moisturising
• It should last months
• It’s affordable
• It’s great for Autumn/Winter

Lush Argan Facial Oil Review

I genuinely love this product, I will admit that in general I avoid using anything with a fragrance on my face because my skin can be a bit reactive.

However, this bar works great and no irritation at all. For your reference my skin is Dry/Combination and due to this I avoid using this bar on my T-Zone.

I had my eye on this facial oil for a while, perhaps you have too?

I really like that Lush have a lot of different products that you can buy without packaging, it makes it easier to pick more sustainable products for your bathroom routine.
