Overherd Oat Milk Powder Product Review
As a vegan, finding convenience foods that are also affordable can be difficult. This is a detailed Overherd oat milk powder product review to give you all the information you need in one place.
Fortunately, in the UK there are now a lot of great alternatives to dairy milk. This is particular good if you’re vegan or you have a dairy allergy.
Years ago my Mum was told she had a sensitivity to a number of foods including dairy. I remember at this time there were only 2 alternative milks to choose from it was either soya milk or rice milk.
If you didn’t like either it was tough luck.
Fast forward to now and in most countries you can choose from a big variety of alternative milks and even milk powders like the one I’m talking about here!

About Overherd
Overherd was launched in January 2023 by a small team in the countryside of North Yorkshire.
On their website they state that oat milk is 90% water. They realised that it was crazy to transport this water around the world when we are fortunate enough in the UK to have access to clean water at home.
So Overherd was born when they realised there had to be a better way!
Less packaging, less waste and easier to transport than the liquid versions of oat milk.
Their oat milk powder is made in the UK by their manufacturing partner with guiding principles of planet first, simple ingredients and their aim to ’cause a stir’ by showing what can be done with dehydrated products.
I’ve recently written a Dr. Vegan review if you wanted to learn more about a vegan supplement brand which sells their vitamins in refill packs.
How It Works?
You might be wondering how it works seeing as it’s an oat milk powder. It’s actually quite simple to make although that does depend a bit on what you’re using the milk for.
Directions to make milk for using in drinks and cereal:
Add 20g to 200ml of water
If you prefer creamier milk just use a bit more. For a 250ml glass I used 4 tablespoons and that was perfect for my taste buds.

When you’re using it in smoothies, pancakes and cooking; it’s even more simple.
For cooking you just add what you need to make your dish creamier. Smoothies and pancakes I found the easiest too because you add all of your ingredients, throw in some water and Overherd. Then blast your blender to mix…done!
It’s also super easy to take with you when you go on holiday or you’re camping. It’s much less hassle taking a packet of powder and mixing as you need it. Not to mention less weight that you need to take with you!

Not let’s look at the specifics of this oat milk, the price and ingredients so you can decide if you should switch to this alternative milk for your next purchase.

The below table I’ve taken directly from Overherd’s website. I thought it was an interesting comparison of the nutritional information of Overherd and other milks.

Price Comparison
I’ve already included the price for this oat milk powder, however I thought it would probably be good to also show you some comparisons to other milks/powders so you can get a better idea of how they compare.
| Name | Specifics | Price |
| Overherd | 400g oat milk pack makes 4 litres | £6.99* |
| Mighty | 365g oat milk pack makes 4 litres | £6.99* |
| Oatly | Barista oat milk long life 1 litre carton x4 | £8.80 |
| Alpro | Oat original long life 1 litre carton x4 | £8.80 |
As you can probably see from the table, it’s really cost effective to buy the packets of oat milk powder. It’s easier to store as well because you can just make what you need. As opposed to buying cartons which do need to be kept in the fridge once you’ve opened them.
Overherd Oat Milk Powder Product Review
Now let’s get to my review..
I love this milk powder, it tastes great and it’s super easy to use! I’ve used it in coffee, it tastes really good and it doesn’t curdle.
I’ve also used it in cereal, porridge, smoothies and even pancakes. As I said before, it’s quite handy to just throw water and the powder into the blender and make a quick creamy smoothie or pancake batter.
I stupidly forgot to take this with me when I went camping last but I won’t be making that mistake again!

What I Like About Them
The main thing that I like about Overherd as a brand, is their sense of humour! Have a look at their Instagram and you’ll see what I mean.
Not only do they share interesting facts and statistics, they also add a bit of wit and personally I love that!
Now for the practical things I like about them:
- UK brand
- Minimal packaging
- Simple ingredients
- Great price
- Easy to store
I didn’t want to brush over the fact that you reduce emissions from choosing this oat milk powder. Overherd state on their website that oat milk is 90% water, they have made a product for the 10% and people can add the water themselves.
The packaging itself is plastic but I suspect this is because a compostable or paper material might not keep the powder as fresh.
The fact that it’s not liquid, makes it easier to transport and less likely to get damaged along the way. Because it’s concentrated as well, you’ll produce a lot less waste than if you buy cartons of oat milk.

Klean Kanteen
My favourite reusable water bottle is Klean Kanteen and I use these bottles for my children too. They’re strong, solid and leakproof which is essential for families.
Summary
To summarise this guide and Overherd oat milk powder product review, this is a great alternative milk!
If you’re vegan already you’ll likely be aware that environmentally alternative milks are so much better and in particular, oat milk.
Oat milk powder is better again because of the reduced emissions from transportation and the fact that it’s concentrated so you’ll produce less waste as well.
It’s the best dairy free staple for your cupboard, particularly if you’re trying to reduce your household waste and you want to support a brilliant UK brand!
