12 Best Eco Friendly Lip Balms – Plastic Free Lipbalms UK

I have put together some of the best eco friendly lip balms that I have come across over the last year or so. All of these are plastic free lip balms, some are in aluminium tins and some are also in cardboard tubes. I have noticed lately that there are a lot of eco friendly lip balms around, they aren’t always the best quality however, so it’s worth doing your research and checking reviews before you buy.

Beauty Kitchen

Beauty Kitchen is such an awesome brand, I mention them in my sustainable beauty brands post. They are a B Corporation and they have a #refillrevolution where you return your empty containers to them and they reuse them in their next batch.

This plastic free lip balm is a vegan and cruelty free alternative to Vaseline. They do also stock a non vegan version of this if a vegan lip balm is not your priority.

Etsy

I do appreciate that there is probably a lot of homemade eco friendly lip balms on Etsy. However, I have hand picked a few that stand out to me for this blog post. If you don’t like the look of these plastic free lip balms, feel free to search Etsy yourself.

Battle Green Box

I’ve mentioned this brand on my blog before because I was really impressed with their dish soap. I wish I’d realised that they do lip balms when I was searching, however this mandarin one sounds great. They are located in Wales in the UK and they have lots of pleasing reviews for their products.

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (Organic Castor Oil); Simmondsia chinensis (Organic Jojoba Oil); Euphorbia cerifera (Candelilla Wax); Theobroma cacao (Organic Cocoa Butter); Citrus nobilis (Mandarin Essential Oil); Limonene^ – ^Occurs naturally in essential oils.

Eco Habitat

These vegan eco friendly lip balms come in cardboard packaging and they’re currently priced at £4 which isn’t bad. This brand has a lot of lovely reviews which is reassuring. A great option for plastic free lip balms in the UK.

Natural You

I bought the below lip balm for my son recently. I choose this particular brand because it’s made in Wales so close to me and it was a good price at £4. It was beautifully packaged as well and my son’s really pleased with it.

100% natural ingredients:
Essential oils, candelilla wax, pure coconut oil, organic shea butter

The Posh Soap Co

I really like the look of this tin of eco friendly lip balm, the apple one sounds so good. Currently priced at £4.50, this brand is handmade in Yorkshire. I just thought I would include a tin option as I would imagine some people prefer tins to the cardboard packaging.

Lush

I have to admit that I haven’t bought much from Lush lately, mostly due to doing a No Buy year. However I have found that as my skin is a bit sensitive to fragrance I have cut down on the skincare products that I used to buy from Lush. That-being-said Lush have some great eco friendly lip balms, I have listed the below three vegan lip balms. They are all currently priced at £7.50.

Nirvana Natural

I discovered this brand last year and I just love their plastic free lip balms. We bought the below lip balms for Autumn and they had such lovely flavours. Pumpkin spice was mine and I loved it.

They currently have the following flavours of eco friendly lip balms; Sweet Honeysuckle Limited Edition, Rose, Peppermint, Vanilla, Sweet Orange & Cacoa, Naked and Love Is Love (pictured below). All currently priced at £5.50.

Scence

Scence is a brand that has skincare products all in sustainable packaging. Their products are handcrafted in Cornwall in the UK which is pretty cool. They stock deodorants as well, which I’ve heard good things about but haven’t tried.

This plastic free lip balm comes in cardboard packaging and is currently priced at £4.50.

Ingredients: Organic coconut oil, mango butter, sunflower wax, illipe butter, organic jojoba oil, natural vitamin E oil (non GMO), bitter orange essential oil, sweet orange essential oil. Naturally occurring in essential oils: limonene, linalool, geraniol, citral

Valley Mist

Valley Mist stock a wide range of plastic free lip balms. Some are vegan and cruelty free and some are just cruelty free, so make sure you check that if you’re vegan. I have the Pure and Restore and they’re both lovely lipbalms.

This vegan lipbalm comes in cardboard packaging and is currently priced at £9.50.

Ingredients: Theobroma cacao (organic cocoa) seed butter, hydrogenated soy bean oil, helianthus annuus (organic sunflower) seed oil, rosa canina fruit oil, simmondsia chinensis (organic jojoba) seed oil, pelargonium graveolens flower oil, boswellia carteri (frankincense) oil, lavandula angustifolia (English lavender) herb oil, citronellol, geraniol, limonene, linalool.

Zao

I just had to include this amazing brand in this list, however this eco friendly lip balm is a bit pricier at £18.75. You can get the refill for this lip balm at £13.50 as well. In case you aren’t aware Zao do a lot of skincare and makeup products in bamboo packaging which are all refillable. They’re a great brand because of this.

I hope my recommendations for eco friendly lip balms have given you some ideas. We do have quite a lot of great plastic free lip balm option in the UK. I feel very fortunate.
