Revolution Eyeshadow: Vegan & Cruelty Free

I do have a bit of a make-up obsession so I bought the Patricia Bright Rich in colour eyeshadow palette from Makeup Revolution. Once it arrived I knew I should do an review of this Revolution eyeshadow palette in case anyone was thinking of buying it themselves.

This palette caught my attention because it’s a lovely rainbow palette and it’s also vegan and cruelty free.  

I saw a few of my favourite YouTube influencers/make-up artists review it and it seemed to pass with flying colours from what I’ve watched; with only a few people saying the matte purple shade is hard to work with but not terrible.

Who is Patricia Bright

I hadn’t actually heard of Patricia Bright before I saw these reviews but she’s a 33 year old British beauty and fashion blogger on YouTube who loves make-up and fashion. I believe she lives in Hertfordshire with her husband and child and although her parents are Nigerian she was born in England.  
She started her channel in 2009 and as I’m writing this has approximately 2.89 million subscribers. For her channel BritPopPrincess click here.

As I mentioned this is a collaboration with Revolution Beauty London which makes this eyeshadow palette really affordable as it’s priced at £20 on their website. I actually bought this from Beauty Bay as I had some other things I wanted at the time and I was very pleased that it was the same price and it arrived safely.  

I love that Revolution do collaborations with YouTube influencers as well as it gives the influencers a chance to put their personality and creativity into creating their own collection of make-up and skincare products. Mainly because they know what they like to see from a product as usually their main job is to test skincare and make-up.

I currently only have two other Revolution eyeshadow palette velvet rose and Tammi Clarke Tropical Twilight as I usually use mostly Elf products but I’m very pleased with the quality of the palettes I’ve used so far and they’re really affordable too.  

Details

Now getting to the specifics of the palette; It’s cased in a tin with a mirror, it’s 28 shades including mattes, shimmers and pressed glitters. 19 of the shades are matte which I love, there’s 3 glitters and 6 shimmers. Included in the mattes is a beige, ginger and rust matte which could all be used for crease shades but it’s worth noting this is a very bright colour story so if you’re looking for neutral looks this isn’t the one for you.  
There is also a white shimmer shade which is nice. The only thing the palette is really missing is a black but that isn’t an issue for me as I haven’t felt like I really needed it with the looks I’ve created.  

I’m not a make-up artist or anything close and my blending needs a lot of work but I had a lot of fun stepping out of my comfort zone of browns and creating these looks.  

Rainbow

This rainbow look was fun and it’s far from perfect but it was a lot of fun to create. I used the Youtuber Tammi Clarke’s video tutorial on the Revolution channel to create this.

Sunset

Next I went for a matte sunset look with pink ‘fruit punch’, orange ‘yes peaches’ and yellow ‘vitamin c’ which I found was much easier to blend and I was pleased with how vibrant and summery it looked.  

Purple and Teal

My favourite colours are purple and teal so I incorporated these into this peacock themed look. I did cut the crease with this look but I’m not very good at getting a straight line so need to practice more!

Pink and Purple

Next I wanted to try the purple again but this time with pink for a really girlie look.  
I used navy blue ‘no boo’ in the outer corner, matte purple ‘reckless’ all over the lid which I thought was a bit dark so I topped it with the shimmer purple ‘birthday cake’ to tone it down and then buffed it out with the brightest pink ‘fruit punch’
I like the glitter in the inner corner (although not visible in the picture) and as this was quite simple to do, I will likely be creating this one more often.

Green

Lastly, although there was only a few green shades in the palette, I wanted to see what I could create so I used the navy blue ‘no boo’ in the outer corner topped with the dark green shimmer ‘missed call’. Then I blended the matte green shade ‘trend setter’ into the crease, used the shimmer light green ‘no exit’ all over the lid, buffed out the edge with the matte yellow ‘vitamin c’ and the yellow gold shimmer ‘honey pot’ in the inner corner.  

My thoughts

Overall I did find the purple and yellow shades slightly more difficult to work with but I have heard that these two shades are very difficult to get right in the formula so I accept that. Despite this though the pigmentation is very good and the fallout wasn’t terrible with the shades I’ve tried, although I do generally do foundation last when working with brighter shades as a precaution.  
The pink and purple shades did stain my eyes, however I have quite sensitive eyes and I haven’t seen any irritation from using this Revolution eyeshadow palette so that’s really good.  

If you are looking for a nice rainbow eyeshadow palette with lots of shades I would recommend this Revolution eyeshadow palette. I’m very pleased with it and I expect I will get a lot more decent looks out of it.
