Jungle Culture Product Review – Honest Review of 4 Products

I was very kindly gifted some Jungle Culture products recently so I thought I would discuss these products below. When Jungle Culture offered to send me these products I was really pleased because this is not the sort of thing that I would buy myself. Especially as I’m doing a No Buy Year to challenge myself. I thought it would be worth me doing a full Jungle Culture product review in case anyone was considering buying from them.

On first impression of receiving these Jungle Culture products, I found the quality to be amazing. I was sent a Jungle Straw, a set of two coconut bowls with spoons, a bamboo cutlery set and a bamboo shaving set as well. I was under no obligation to do a Jungle Culture review but the products are beautiful and very aesthetically pleasing so I decided that I had to.

About Jungle Culture

Jungle Culture was originally called Jungle Straws as they created their bamboo straws to combat the 500 million plastic straws that are disposed of every year. Jungle Straws have partnered with National Geographic BBC Earth and Toms and are the best selling bamboo straw on Amazon.

When they expanded to create Jungle Culture they started stocking coconut bowls, bamboo cutlery and bamboo razors as well. Everything they stock is 100% organic and handmade.

Jungle Culture Product Review

Bamboo Cutlery Set

Now let’s get to the Jungle Culture review. The first product that I tried was the Bamboo Cutlery Set, I took this for a picnic and although I didn’t necessarily need to use them I though I would try it out on some baked snacks that we had brought. I don’t usually use a knife but I found it worked really well for what I used it for.

I would say that this cutlery set is perfect for picnics, camping or travel. It’s very lightweight seeing as it’s bamboo so perfect for camping or travel. The jute case that it comes in is really cute. I will probably just keep it in my handbag in case I ever need cutlery on the go. This will just mean if I’m ever caught out somewhere where I might end up eating something messy, at least I have this cutlery set and won’t need to pick up the single-use cutlery that businesses usually provide.

Bamboo Straw Set

Their straws are handmade from a family run bamboo farm in Northern Vietnam. Each straw comes with a little jute case and a straw cleaner. I’m usually a user of stainless steel straws for smoothies and coffee to protect my teeth.

I tried the bamboo straw initially with my smoothie pictured below and I was really pleased with it. I have this aversion to anything wooden in my mouth (don’t say a word.. I know what you’re thinking!) and I can’t tolerate the texture of lolly sticks in my mouth usually but I had no issues with this straw at all. It was very smooth and not at all like lolly sticks, so didn’t make me freak out about the texture.

Something that I would recommend if you use reusable straws for smoothies, is make sure that you rinse them through immediately and use a straw cleaner (this one was supplied with a natural straw cleaner), if necessary. In the past I didn’t rinse mine out and I ended up with some fruit stuck on the inside which wasn’t pleasant!

I tried this out with my coffee as well because I thought I would see if the heat effected the straw in any way but I’m pleased to report that it can withstand the temperature of hot drinks as well and hasn’t stained the bamboo from what I can see.

Coconut Bowl Set

The coconut bowls are all handcrafted in Southern Vietnam on a family farm. I took a few pictures of these because I didn’t think that one picture could really show how beautiful they really are. They’re perfect for foraging as you can see in the above picture.

I also used just a bit of dish soap and warm water to clean them and they were really easy to clean. I wouldn’t recommend using them for anything with a tomato based sauce however, because I do feel that they might stain. They are a natural material after all so they shouldn’t be submerged in water for long periods of time etc.

Zero Waste Safety Razor

In the interest of full disclosure this Jungle Culture product review is not coming directly from me. I didn’t have any use for a zero waste safety razor so I gave this to a very trusted friend and asked her to feedback how she got on with it. Her feedback is as follows:

“When I unpacked it, it felt weighty in my hand. Well balanced but heavier than the plastic Bic I previously used. The colour is feminine without being girly – not that it bothers me as I’d have been happy with neon pink. This one is grown up but still fun.

It gave a close shave and I didn’t need to clear the clogged up blade after each stroke. Because it comes apart to replace blades, it’s going to be easier to keep clear than a disposable. I also found that being a brand new blade it didn’t ‘nick’ me like a brand new disposable does.

Overall I’m impressed and converted. I think I could persuade my husband to use one. “

Summary

In summary of this Jungle Culture product review I do think this brand is extremely ethical. I love their transparency on their website about who they work with and their close relationship with their suppliers at the farms in Vietnam.

The Jungle Culture products are really beautiful, I can’t fault them at all. I’m a sucker for anything bamboo and the jute cases that the straw and cutlery come in are a really nice touch. If you decide to buy these products whether as an individual or a business, you won’t be disappointed. You can really tell that a lot of care has gone into making these products.
