Best Vegan Christmas Food UK Supermarkets & Online
As I’ve been vegan since 2016 this year will be my 6th vegan Christmas. I have to say every year it’s getting easier and easier to find quality vegan food for Christmas. There’s so many delicious options now for mains, cheese or just snacking food.
Of course if you had the time and like experimenting in the kitchen you can probably make most of these things yourself. However, if you’re looking to cut some corners and make your life easier – you’re in the right place.
This post contains affiliate links which means I make a small profit if you buy through my link. I would never recommend something I didn’t believe in or wouldn’t buy myself, thank you for your support.
Cheese
I know vegan cheese is not always the greatest. The cheese that we buy on a weekly basis is the Tesco Mozzarella alternative which my partner uses in sandwiches. To be honest, I don’t really use it myself except occasionally in cooking.
Vegusto
My absolute favourite vegan cheese for crackers is Vegusto, it’s got the absolute best flavour and texture in my humble opinion. Vegusto is a brand from Switzerland that was created in 1997. They are soya free and made with nuts such as almonds. If you’re already familiar with vegan cheeses, generally the nicest ones are made with nuts, although there are other options as well.
In the UK Vegusto cheese and sausages etc can be bought from Green Bay Supermarket. I bought my cheese for a vegan Christmas a few weeks ago and put it in my freezer ready. I bought the golden, mild and herb flavours so we have a few to eat with crackers, grapes etc when we feel like snacking.

Violife
Another great option for vegan food for Christmas is the Violife Christmas cheese selection. I’m not the biggest fan of Violife cheese but this selection does look really nice. Ocado have this pack at the moment, priced at £5.99 for mature, cranberry and blu cheese alternatives 3x150g. Violife cheese is made with coconut oil and has a mild rubbery texture, similar to Babybels.

Tyne Cheese
Tyne cheese is one of the more expensive vegan cheeses at between £7.95-£8.95 per 160g, made in the North East of England. It’s made from cashew nuts and it’s really creamy. We had this cheese last year but when I discovered that I could still get Vegusto in the UK I decided to buy that this year.
Tyne cheese is available in a lot of different flavours: Sundried tomato, ethopian spice, provencal, za’atar spice, chives, dill, sage & original from The Vegan Kind (Affiliate).
Applewood
A lot of people love the Applewood cheeses. There are mexican and smoked available individually at The Vegan Kind Supermarket and I think Asda sell this cheese as well.
For a vegan Christmas they have released a Christmas selection (Affiliate) that looks amazing at only £6.75 4x100g. It features smoked, blue, mexican and mature cheese.

Chocolates
I know that some vegans put together their own version of a Roses or Celebration box with multiple packets of vegan chocolates. However I’ve always thought that’s a lot of effort and money to put it together.
Aldi Chocolates
The most affordable ones I’ve found are some accidentally vegan chocolates. Dark chocolates with a creamy centre from Aldi. They have strawberry, violet, orange & rose cremes and they’re so cheap at only £1.49 a box.
The brand is Moser Roth and they call them luxury fruit creams. These are only available in store.

I can’t really remember how many is in the box because I haven’t bought ours for Christmas yet. Maybe about 12-15 as they’re fairly small boxes.
Booja Booja
These chocolates are really good. I actually tried them long before I was vegan because other members of my family love them. The Gourmet selection (Affiliate) is £17.99 for 6 different flavours and they’re what I would call luxury chocolate.

You can buy individual packs of 2 truffles on The Vegan Kind if you wanted to try a few before committing to a big box.
Vego Vegolino
If you like nutty chocolate then Vego bars and these praline chocolates are the ones for you. The bars and chocolates taste a lot like dairy to me. The Vegolino chocolates (Affiliate) in particular make nice gifts or just as a treat and they’re £5.69 for 180g.

Liqueur
I thought I would only mention liqueur for the alcohol because there’s a lot of alcohol that is vegan and everyone has their preferences when it comes to alcohol.
Bailey’s
The vegan Bailey’s has been very popular in the last few years. We had it last year and it was good just not as creamy as the dairy version.

Shannon’s Chocolate Liqueur
The one we bought this year from Tesco was the Shannons vegan chocolate liqueur. I thought this sounded like a perfect liqueur for a vegan Christmas and I’m looking forward to trying it.

I was going to include M&S in my list but I can’t see any vegan liqueurs on their website this year. Let me know in the comments if you’ve seen any in store and they’re just not on the website.
Mulled Wine
I prefer to make mulled wine myself in the slow cooker with orange slices, spices and orange juice. However if you want to make things easier you can buy premade mulled wine in most Supermarkets in the UK. Plus it’s usually vegan.
I have bought the below Tesco version in the past and it is vegan and relatively low in alcohol.

Mains
To find a main for a vegan Christmas can be a bit more tricky.
This year will be my 5th Christmas as a vegan. The first Christmas I was vegan I made my own individual mushroom pies. the year after that I was feeling a bit more lazy so I just had a nut roast mix.
The following year I bought a Vegusto roast which had some of their yummy cheese running through the middle of it and that was amazing. Unfortunately, we can only get their cheese and slices etc in the UK now so can’t buy that one anymore.
Last year we tried Tofurky for the first time and it was really yummy from what I remember.
Nut Roast
For a homemade nut roast recipe, click here.
If you would rather buy a ready mix The Vegan Kind Supermarket have a few great nut roast mixes (Affiliate), including the below Artisan mix which comes with a tray to bake it in.

Wellington
My family prefer the fake meats for vegan food for Christmas, I personally love a good Wellington but they aren’t as keen.
If you prefer to make your own, Bosh have a mushroom wellington recipe that looks delicious.
If you’d rather not make your own Morrison’s have a mushroom Wellington that looks really good. It’s a frozen two pack so ideal for a smaller family.
Asda UK also have a mushroom wellington and a cauliflower wellington pictured below. I still might buy the cauliflower one in case we don’t manage to find a roast this year. It’s got sheese vegan cheese and as it’s frozen it’s not going to be wasted as we could just have it another day.

Roasts
As I said before we were really impressed with the Tofurky (Affiliate) last year, it’s not available at The Vegan Kind Supermarket as I’m typing this but it should be available soon if you’re willing to wait.

Tesco have listed a Wicked ‘Turkey’ roast this year which looks quite interesting, I don’t think it’s currently available at my local Tesco but look out for it.
Another great option this year looks like the Aldi No turkey roast, pictured below.

Party Food
I know this year the usual gatherings that we’re used to around Christmas might not happen. However, snacking food might still be needed for a vegan Christmas so I will just mention a few things that we usually buy but I won’t leave links.
We like to get crisps and houmous in for snacking. In most supermarkets spring rolls and vegetable samosas are usually good vegan food for Christmas as well, be sure to check the packaging for suitability. Tesco also do mini vegetarian sausage rolls in the frozen section which are great for children and so easy because you can just throw it all in the oven.
Tesco usually have churros in the frozen section at Christmas time. These are better when warm but nice for an indulgent party snack.
Desserts
I don’t have a big sweet tooth and rarely have dessert on a day-to-day basis. However Christmas is different and it’s nice to have a special dessert for a vegan Christmas.
Chocolate Torte/Tarte
This is the preferred dessert for Christmas day in my family. We’ve previously bought packs of individual vegan chocolate torte but that can work out quite pricey.
This year I’m hoping to get an Asda Extra Special Vegan Chocolate and salted caramel tart because it looks so good!

Christmas Pudding
If you prefer more traditional dessert options for Christmas like pudding or cake, I’ve noticed that most of the supermarkets in the UK have Christmas puddings which are free from animal ingredients and sometimes other allergen ingredients such as nuts.
Vegan Christmas cake might be more difficult to find but The Vegan Kind has a Christmas cake (Affiliate) if you get stuck.
Mince Pies
These mince pies (Affiliate) from The Vegan Kind look really delicious vegan food for Christmas, I’ve hadn’t tried them yet but I’m still undecided if I’ll buy any this year because it’s only me that really likes them. Maybe I should buy them for that reason…😂
Panettone
I know some people really enjoy pannettone at Christmas time, this Vegan Kind pannettone with chocolate (Affiliate) looks good just not the cheapest around.
Extras
Marshmallows
We do love to have a tasty hot chocolate on Christmas Eve and of course vegan marshmallows (Affiliate) just make it that much more special.
Whipped Cream
Another must for a decent hot chocolate for a vegan Christmas is whipped cream (Affililate), well in our house anyway. The Vegan Kind have a few different ones available, we like the Food Heaven one in particular. It’s also yummy on mince pies of course.
