11 Vegan Lifestyle Books Everyone Should Read
I wanted to put together some recommendations for vegan lifestyle books that I think everyone should read.
You don’t have to be vegan to read these books, it will just help you to understand the principles behind the vegan lifestyle and why it is that people decide to become vegan.
If you’re interested in food items that contribute to a healthy lifestyle, I recently wrote a Overherd Milk Powder Product Review. It’s a great way of reducing your household waste by choosing a concentrated milk powder instead.
Vegan Lifestyle Books Everyone Should Read
I do love reading different people’s vegan stories. For some people they come into veganism from a health perspective and then ending up learning more about the industry.
For some people it’s because they’re concerned about the climate and for others it’s the shocking documentaries about factory farming that does it.
I’m not going to leave links to Amazon for these books, sorry! Let’s be fair, Amazon doesn’t need my assistance in getting them sales.. 😉
However, if you’re in the UK I recommend having a look at World Of Books, they’re a B Corporation and the biggest Used book retailer in the UK. WOB is a great place to find vegan lifestyle books!
They also have an Ebay store which is where I usually buy physical books if I need something in particular.
If you’re in the US, there is also a World Of Books you can have a look at for these books.
Animal Liberation: The Definitive Classic Of The Animal Movement

By Peter Singer
Peter Singer is an Australian Professor of Bioethics and teacher. Peter and his wife stopped eating meat in 1971 and this book was published in 1975. He’s credited with inspiring the animal rights movement from this book. He also co-founded the Australian Federation of Animal Societies.
“How should we treat non-human animals? In this immensely powerful and influential book (now with a new introduction by Sapiens author Yuval Noah Harari), the renowned moral philosopher Peter Singer addresses this simple question with trenchant, dispassionate reasoning. Accompanied by the disturbing evidence of factory farms and laboratories, his answers triggered the birth of the animal rights movement.”

This is a different book from all of the other books in my list because it’s fiction. It’s well worth a read because it tells a story, but also encourages people to think differently about animals.
“Peridot has lived a sheltered life. Raised by an overprotective mother on a remote island, the ways of the world remain a mystery, until the arrival of a young boy Euan, and she finally learns the truth.”
